Great family restaurant with delicious home cooking
My family ate supper here at Hunter's Family Restaurant on a warm, Friday night, in the middle of July 2017 . We were greeted by a very sweet hostess who seated us and provided us with menus, specials and drinks to get us started . She was very efficient and super nice and carried on a great conversation about her college plans and that she attended the same school we all did . We asked questions about the menu options and she knew everything about the food and menu choices . I was very impressed with her knowledge of the restaurant and all the specials they had . I orderd the homemade chicken and dumplings and when I say homemade I felt as if I were eating my Grandmaw's chicken and dumplings from back in the day . I was super pleased with the food . My meal even came with a fresh tomato that was straight out of the garden . I also had fried okra and a huge helping of homemade macaroni . I felt as if I were eating a home cooked meal at my family gathering when I was growing up . Our tea glasses were constantly filled and we had plenty of food . Everyone was bragging amongst each other about how good the food was . My niece ordered the pot roast and she said it was delicious. Dad orderd hot wings and I believe Mom orderd the catfish plate . I topped off my meal with a slice of red velvet cake which was moist and just enough sweet taste to make you want to return for more . I hope this place continues their service to the community it is really a hidden gem in Akron Alabama just a few minutes passed Moundville . It is definately worth the trip . I will be back and also I want one of the Hunter's Family Restaurant T- Shirts ! Definately going back soon and will tell all my friends . SUPER delicious !
